1. Consultation Call

Schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone or video call to determine if we might be a good fit. I'll ask questions to learn more about what you are looking for and I encourage you to ask me questions, too. If you decide to proceed with an evaluation or therapy, we'll make a plan for the first session.

Our Process

Thank you for your interest in working with Oppenheimer Speech and Language. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your family. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved for working with us:

2. Intake Paperwork

You'll use our secure patient portal to fill out forms so I can learn more about your child and your family. This will help me plan your child's first session.

4. Discuss Evaluation Results

After the evaluation, we will have a phone or video meeting to discuss the results of testing. I'll explain the results and my recommendations, and ask for your input as well. Together we'll decide on the next steps, which could include speech-language therapy with us, referrals to additional providers, and recommendations for home activities. You will receive a written report of the results and recommendations.

3. Evaluation

Your speech-language evaluation will take place in your home or a community location. I will play or talk with your child and I may administer standardized assessments of speech and language. The evaluation activities will be chosen to be appropriate for your child's developmental level and we can take breaks at any time. I welcome parents to watch the evaluation.

5. Begin Therapy

If speech-language therapy is indicated, we will schedule sessions for your child. Therapy sessions are designed to be fun and target your child's goals in the context of meaningful activities. Most clients have weekly appointments; however, we will work together to come up with a plan that works for you and your family. Therapy takes place in your home or at a community location we agree on. Telehealth is available in limited circumstances.
